El acceso a datos oficiales sobre casos de femicidio en Uruguay no es tarea fácil, y cuando se logra, se encuentran datos discordantes. Tal dificultad tiene serias repercusiones, tanto para la concientización de la población como para el diseño de políticas públicas y el accionar de la sociedad civil frente al fenómeno. En este trabajo se examina la importancia y las complejidades de contar con datos, oficiales y no oficiales, sobre las muertes violentas de mujeres por razones de género.
Accessing official data on cases of femicide is not an easy task in Uruguay, and when accessed, there are discordant data. This issue has serious repercussions, both for the awareness of the population and for the design of public policies and the actions of civil society in the face of the phenomenon. This paper examines the importance and complexities of having official and unofficial data on violent deaths of women due to gender.
