En este artículo se busca desvelar la estrategia espacial del proceso de urbanización del capitalismo global, extendido a través de la construcción de una marca cultural que ha llevado a Cuenca (Ecuador) a especializarse en el consumo improductivo del espacio como una centralidad de ocio, ocultando dispositivos de extracción de los excedentes inmobiliarios mediados por la industria turística y la llamada extranjera a una vida de retiro.
The purpose of this article is to unveil the space strategy masking the global capitalism urbanization process extended through the construction of a cultural-heritage brand. This has led Cuenca (Ecuador) to specialize in the unproductive consumption of space as a centrality of leisure, ignoring devices for extracting real estate surplus mediated by the tourism industry and the foreign invocation of a retirement life dream.
