"Es la felicidad ilusoria de los hombres...Es una conciencia mundial invertida... Es la realización fantástica del ser humano visto que el ser humano no posee una realidad verdadera... Es el suspiro de la criatura oprimida, el sentimiento de un mundo sin corazón y el alma de condiciones sociales desalmadas. Es el opio delpueblo" (Karl Marx). La televisión de hoy cumple con las críticas que Marx formuló en contra de la religión hace ciento cuarenta años. Mientras la religión está cambiando rápidamente y, en algunos casos, saliendo de su papel de opresora y encontrando pistas de la liberación, la televisión está tomando un papel transcendente en la vida de los pueblos.
