En Ecuador se ha planteado nuevamente el debate sobre la sostenibilidad del sistema de pensiones. En la mayoría de países de América Latina se han realizado reformas; unas se basan en el cambio del modelo de ahorro y el reparto con beneficios; otras, en el de capitalización individual hacia un sistema mixto multipilares; y algunas reformas son de tipo paramétrico dentro de sus propios esquemas de pensiones.
In Ecuador, the debate on the sustainability of the pension system has resurfaced. Reforms have been implemented in most Latin American countries; some are centered on modifying the Pay-As-You-Go Defined Benefit system, while others aim to transition toward a mixed multi-pillar system with the Individual Capitalization Defined Contribution system. Additionally, some reforms are of a parametric nature within their own pension schemes.
