El Antropoceno, en cuanto hecho geológico y biológico, constituye un momento barroco en la medida en que es un encuentro de resultado incierto entre dos verdades irreconciliables. La verdad hasta ahora considerada como tal, la verdad clásica, se ve desafiada por otra verdad, aunque esta última no pueda imponerse. La conciencia de este enfrentamiento, irreconciliable por el momento, incita al género humano a una acción política espectacular y retórica, es decir, barroca.
As a geological and biological fact, the Anthropocene is a baroque moment insofar as it is a meeting with an uncertain outcome between two irreconcilable truths. To date, the truth considered as classic is confronted by another truth even though the latter cannot impose itself. The awareness of this confrontation, which is irreconcilable for the moment, favors in the human species a spectacular and rhetorical political action, which is to say, baroque.
