Si etimológicamente la palabra "historiador" significa el testigo, el que ve lo que pasó, ¿no conviene soberanamente esta raíz del nombre a quienes hoy, más que nadie, ven, atestiguan y relatan: los periodistas?
Ejercer el periodismo es una forma de ejercer la libertad social: el periodista es factor indispensable para que los hombres y las mujeres, bien informados, actúen política, social y personalmente para mejorar su entorno.
