Esta investigación analiza el discurso político del Gobierno de Rafael Correa Delgado, tras el terremoto de abril del 2016 en Ecuador. Es un esfuerzo por ubicar el discurso oficial frente a una catástrofe en un determinado entorno político, para demostrar como el impacto del hecho y su manejo comunicacional, pudo ser manipulado en favor de la hegemonía posicionada en el país. Se analizó el enlace ciudadano, programa televisivo y radial conducido por el propio presidente, como dispositivo central de la comunicación durante todo el régimen. Se tomaron los cuatro enlaces inmediatamente posteriores a la catástrofe, con los que se demostró que el evento natural fue capitalizado políticamente por quienes detentaban el poder. Utilizando estrategias populistas, de catastrofización y de shock, el gobierno de Correa supo construir y reforzar su poder desde el discurso.
