Description:
Al suroriente de la provincia de Pichincha se encuentra el cantón Mejía, con un paisaje caracterizado por abundantes pastos y monocultivos, característica compartida con otros cantones de la sierra ecuatoriana. Su ubicación como punto articulador entre sierra, costa y oriente, ha facilitado el desarrollo de actividades propias del comercio y el desarrollo industrial. Gran porcentaje de la población de este territorio se vincula a la producción agropecuaria y aunque la influencia de la llamada revolución verde es fuerte, los actores que representan el grupo de estudio conservan aun prácticas tradicionales. Las nuevas generaciones se vinculan a otras actividades económicas dejando a la agricultura en segundo plano.
