La historia más reciente del Ecuador está marcada por el ejercicio de gobierno de Rafael Correa (2007 - 2017). Su estilo autoritario y confrontativo se opuso rotundamente a las críticas de la oposición, pero también, al humor vehiculado a través de la caricatura política. En este escenario de confrontaciones, el interés del presente estudio se centró en investigar las capacidades y límites de la caricatura política de Xavier Bonilla, Bonil, y los mecanismos de funcionamiento de la risa para desmitificar el discurso sacrosanto de Correa. Se trazó así la siguiente pregunta de investigación: ¿Cuáles son las condiciones de posibilidad de transgresión de la caricatura política de Bonil frente al discurso político sacralizado de Rafael Correa? Planteándose como objetivo analizar la capacidad de transgresión de la caricatura política de Xavier Bonilla, Bonil, frente al discurso político sacralizado de Rafael Correa en el periodo de 2013-2015.
