La escasa –pero relevante– historiografía que ha examinado la Historia desde una perspectiva de género muestra que cuando empezó a constituirse el oficio, a inicios del siglo XIX, en su interior se fue articulando una política normativa que incluyó un sistema de prácticas formales e informales: el canon de la Historia y el canon de género de la Historia. Esta construcción sociocultural sirvió para calificar, por ejemplo, a la Historia Ambiental como un campo “aparte” y, en general, a las historiadoras como profesionales “diferentes” a sus contrapartes masculinos. No obstante, desde las tres últimas décadas del siglo XX y lo que va del siglo XXI, el cultivo de “nuevas” posiciones epistémicas y campos historiográficos han animado importantes transformaciones en el oficio, pero esos reajustes no se han rastreado todavía.
