No presente estudo, o objetivo precípuo é o de conhecer sobre a atenção à saúde da mulher
negra no âmbito da Política Estadual de Atenção Integral à Saúde das Mulheres, com enfoque
nas pacientes atendidas no Hospital da Mulher Maria Luzia Costa dos Santos, na cidade de
Salvador – BA, cujas abordagens aqui desenvolvidas buscam compreender como acontece a
integralidade na assistência à saúde dessas mulheres. A integralidade é um dos princípios do
Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) que, junto com a universalidade do acesso, o controle social e
outros princípios, organizam a sustentação do Sistema. A integralidade é compreendida como
um direito, uma ruptura de protocolos a partir da articulação entre as políticas públicas que
venham a impactar e/ou promover a qualidade de vida da população. Ao adotar uma
metodologia compreensiva no percurso dessa investigação, instaura-se um constante diálogo
com vistas ao enfrentamento perante o modelo hegemônico, de natureza curativa e fragmentária
no atendimento à saúde, que prevalece até então no Brasil. Ademais, este estudo busca revelar
a natureza do atendimento no referido Hospital, notadamente com as mulheres negras que se
dirigem a essa unidade, a fim de garantir o seu direito à saúde, via atenção integral.
