En esta tesis se investigó sobre las concepciones de los docentes de Enseñanza Media, respecto a la tarea investigativa, específicamente el papel de esta en la identidad y el ejercicio profesional de los profesores. Con el fin de dilucidar la construcción de la identidad profesional de los docentes con relación a la investigación como competencia profesional, se abordó y problematizó sobre el rol de la investigación en la Formación Docente Uruguaya, y la posible incidencia de esta, en el status que tiene la tarea investigativa en las prácticas profesionales de los docentes de Enseñanza Media, egresados del plan de formación 2008 del Consejo de Formación en Educación. Desde un marco teórico que reivindica al docente como un intelectual, que puede y debe investigar, se buscó identificar las vicisitudes académicas y laborales que enfrentan los docentes en su trabajo en territorio y que le impiden el desarrollo virtuoso de la práctica investigativa. Se presentaron algunas de las políticas públicas en educación efectuadas en post de la constitución de una comunidad docente que desarrolle la práctica de producción de conocimiento, así como también se identificaron las barreras que no han posibilitado tal constitución. Por ello se optó por una perspectiva metodológica cualitativa, con el fin de poder identificar las concepciones de los docentes desde sus propios discursos, recurriendo a entrevistas con estos. Finalmente se reflexionó sobre el status de la investigación en la Enseñanza Media, lo perjudicial de su escaso desarrollo en la práctica profesional de los docentes, y en la educación en general. Se realizan aportes para pensar posibles vías de diálogos en mejora de esta dimensión.In this thesis, research was conducted on the conceptions of secondary school teachers regarding the research task, specifically the role of research in the identity and professional practice of teachers. In order to elucidate the construction of the professional identity of teachers in relation to research as a professional competence, the role of research in Uruguayan Teacher Education was approached and problematized, and its possible incidence on the status of the research task in the professional practices of High School teachers, graduates of the 2008 training plan of the Consejo de Formación en Educación (CFE). From a theoretical framework that vindicates the teacher as an intellectual, who can and should investigate, we sought to identify the academic and labor vicissitudes that teachers face in their work in the territory and that prevent the virtuous development of the investigative practice. Some of the public policies in education carried out in pursuit of the constitution of a teaching community that develops the practice of knowledge production were presented, as well as the barriers that have not made such constitution possible. For this reason, a qualitative methodological perspective was chosen in order to identify the conceptions of teachers from their own discourses, resorting to interviews with them. Finally, we reflected on the status of research in Secondary Education, the detrimental of its scarce development in the professional practice of teachers, and in education in general. Contributions are made to think of possible ways of dialogues to improve this dimension.
