La delincuencia es un problema que afecta a la mayoría de ciudades de todo el mundo y especialmente a las urbes de América Latina donde los gobiernos de la región y diversas organizaciones internacionales han destinado fondos para elaborar programas orientados a reconstruir sectores marginados, proteger los derechos de las personas más vulnerables, mejorar la seguridad ciudadana y fomentar un desarrollo económico, político y social más inclusivo con el objetivo de contrarrestar el crimen y reducir los altos niveles de inseguridad. La presente investigación analiza la ocurrencia de delitos en el espacio-tiempo desde la perspectiva espacial, machine learning y de smart ctiy en el sector La Mariscal que es conocida como la zona rosa más grande de la ciudad de Quito-Ecuador y se caracteriza porque mensualmente ha sido visitada por aproximadamente 200.000 turistas. Sin embargo, sus calles están marcadas por robos, ventas de drogas, microtráfico, riñas callejeras y prostitución, por lo que, desde el año 2013 la policía nacional y administradores de negocios han intentado implementar un plan de seguridad que permita a los residentes y turistas disfrutar de las opciones culturales que ofrece el centro norte de la ciudad.
