Para la Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO-Sede Ecuador) y Abya-Yala la publicación de este libro significa otro paso en la recuperación de la memoria histórica y política de una zona rural de Ecuador que se ha caracterizado por su incidencia en el cambio social: Cayambe.
En este cantón, ubicado al norte de Quito, nacieron dirigentes indígenas como Dolores Cacuango y Tránsito Amaguaña; ahí también surgieron las primeras organizaciones indígenas y este proceso apuntaló elementos que, posteriormente, configurarían el movimiento indígena.
La historia agraria y social de Cayambe captura cambios históricos que permiten entender cuál ha sido el proceso organizativo dentro de las comunidades indígenas kayambis y qué implica este proceso para el futuro del cantón. Sobre la base de estudios que toman insumos de la historia, antropología y sociología, el libro interesará a todos quienes quieran entender las fuerzas políticas y sociales que han formado el Ecuador de hoy.
