Este trabajo muestra las dificultades, cada vez mayores, de inserción de los jóvenes en el mercado laboral. En general, los jóvenes están afectados doblemente en el mercado de trabajo: por un lado, constituyen el mayor porcentaje de los desempleados urbanos, por otro, si encuentran un trabajo, este se caracteriza por ser temporal y precario. Esta doble condición de exclusión social muestra una situación potencialmente explosiva en cualquier país, sea del capitalismo avanzado o del atrasado.
En este libro se analiza las especificidades del trabajo de los jóvenes, tanto desde el lado de la demanda como de la oferta. Esta doble visión muestra el desencuentro entre las condiciones de formación de capital humano y las necesidades de la demanda, a partir de una investigación sobre una fracción del mundo empresarial y de los jóvenes. Es interesante escuchar lo que dicen los jóvenes que pertenecen a diversos estratos sociales, para dibujar una política de empleo más ajustada a la diversidad de estos actores y no solo a las necesidades actuales de la demanda, impuestas por una visión utilitarista que privilegia la flexibilidad laboral y la precariedad del trabajo.
