Esta investigación se adentra en el examen de las expresiones poéticas de lo indiano escritas en Ecuador durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, en cuanto textos que constituyen la materialidad de una práctica literaria gestada en una ciudad de letras, la cual se reconfiguraba entre relaciones urbanas señoriales y modernas circunscritas a un orden que intentaba consolidarse tras la independencia. La pregunta central que orienta dicho examen puede ser formulada de la siguiente manera: ¿cómo emergieron y adquirieron sentido tales expresiones poéticas de lo indiano en relación con una discursividad letrada sobre la poesía y la literatura y una reestructuración letrada del régimen de las artes y de la palabra?
