El propósito de este estudio es abordar los silencios de la sexualidad y erotismo en las comunidades indígenas de Cotacachi donde las mujeres se enfrentan a barreras y tabúes condicionan sus interacciones sociales por la clase social, edad y género. Las comunidades indígenas inferiorizan a las mujeres, aunque a la par se las considera como el complemento del hombre. En esa medida la sexualidad se convierte en un campo de disputa donde emergen dinámicas de poder y dominación que silencian a las mujeres. Estas relaciones de poder se expresan también a nivel familiar y comunitario y están atravesadas por aspectos espirituales, por ende, se aborda la cosmovisión indígena, así como la resistencia a la colonización, el colonialismo y el patriarcado en la formación de las ideas sobre el cuerpo, la sexualidad y el erotismo en las comunidades indígenas.
