Un factor importante para conocer el desarrollo de un país, omitiendo el análisis del desarrollo económico a través el Producto Interno Bruto (PIB), es el índice de Desarrollo Humano (IDH), este índice está compuesto por tres factores claves: nivel de escolaridad, ingresos y esperanza de vida. A este índice lo relacionamos con la Ayuda Oficial para el Desarrollo (AOD) como promotor del IDH, nos enfocamos en la ayuda propiciada por Corea, puesto que es una de las potencias mundiales que ha tenido cierta similitud con el Ecuador, en el pasado. Mediante la metodología de series de tiempo se realizó un análisis VAR y YEC, mínimos cuadrados y causalidad de Granger lo que nos permitió encontrar que existe un alto nivel de correlación entre el IDH y la AOD. Así mismo al realizar un análisis con mínimos cuadrados descubrimos que la AOD es altamente significativo y genera un crecimiento del IDH. Esto contrario a los resultados que obtuvimos al incrementar las variables de control, encontramos que existe una relación de las variables tanto en el corto como en el largo plazo. Finalmente, respecto al análisis de causalidad no existe un nivel de causalidad entre las variables principales, pero si existe causalidad al analizarlas por separado frente a las variables de control.
