Durante las últimas décadas, el debate de la relación entre crecimiento económico y el medio ambiente se ha intensificado a nivel teórico y mediante aplicaciones empíricas en diversas partes del mundo. Este controversial tema ha implicado la generación de diversas posturas y una de estas es la hipótesis de la Curva de Kuznets Ambiental (CKA). Dicha hipótesis, señala que el crecimiento en un inicio genera impactos negativos en el medio ambiente; pero en el largo plazo, una vez alcanzado cierto nivel de ingreso, éste comienza a incidir positivamente en el medio ambiente. El tema planteado en este estudio es una aplicación de distintos modelos econométricos para comprobar la existencia o no de la CKA para el caso de América Latina y el Caribe. Para ello, se realizaron regresiones no paramétricas, análisis de datos de panel, modelos de series de tiempo y regresiones aparentemente no relacionadas (SUR).
