Este artículo analiza los enfoques estratégicos utilizados por China, India y Corea para la generación de sus zonas económicas especiales. A tal efecto, se comienza con una revisión de la literatura académica existente sobre las zonas económicas especiales como instrumentos de política económica. Posteriormente, enmarcando la narración en algunas referencias de carácter histórico, se describe la conformación de las estrategias seguidas por aquellos países y se examina el impacto de las zonas económicas especiales en las economías domésticas. Tras efectuar un análisis comparativo de la experiencia de las zonas económicas especiales en los tres países, se finaliza presentando algunas conclusiones para la aplicación de políticas.
