La presente investigación se enfocó en la Comunidad Ancestral Indígena La Josefina ubicada en la parroquia Cangahua del cantón Cayambe en la zona septentrional del Ecuador fue escogida para ser el centro de la presente investigación debido a sus características organizativas, objeto de principal interés para el trabajo, y a la importancia del aspecto social en el desarrollo rural tan conocido y teorizado pero poco evidenciado en el Ecuador. En tal sentido, la zona de trabajo fue determinada por el proyecto de apoyo a los productores de leche organizados de La Josefina que fue coejecutado por MAGAP-CADERS como agente externo y entidad pública responsable del desarrollo rural en el Ecuador en el 2013, adicionalmente por la disposición y colaboración otorgada por sus comuneros para la realización del trabajo de campo que permitió la culminación de la investigación. Los resultados evidenciaron que la intervención estatal contribuyó principalmente a la seguridad económica de los productores de leche, mediante un producto enfocado al mercado externo de la empresa procesadora de leche, estableciendo una relación económica desequilibrada, que favorece al empresario distribuidor.
