Description:
Las grandes ciudades en la actualidad, sufren cada vez más cambios dentro de su estructura
y morfología, siendo producto de las tendencias urbanas actuales, donde se intentan insertar
dentro de una red de ciudades globales, y dichos cambios, muchas de las veces no suelen
ser producto de la necesidad de la urbe o de la espontaneidad de las interrelaciones sociales
que en ellas se manifiestan; sino mas bien terminan absorbiendo y reproduciendo modelos
anteriores, que con la etiqueta de “modelos exitosos” generados en otras ciudades, acaban
transformándola, llegando a los limites de reproducirlos y simularlos dentro de la misma,
creando nuevos espacios con realidades difusas o simulacros urbanos.
Estas ciudades globales, como Singapur, Barcelona o Curitiba, en la década de los
años noventa, fueron modelos a seguir por muchas ciudades latinoamericanas, sin tomar en
cuenta en mucho de los casos las realidades que vivían dichas ciudades, sino mas bien
guiados por una creciente y nueva revalorización de los espacios públicos, innovadores
modelos de gestión con tendencias neoliberales en donde la inversión privada forma parte
fundamental, o la implementación de nuevas soluciones urbanísticas que tienden simular o
imitar otros proyectos.
