La presente investigación pretende acercarse a los fenómenos urbanos desde la especificidad de un micro territorio: la Calle Cuenca. Partiendo de la problemática contemporánea del espacio globalizado, se examina las relaciones entre lo andino y lo urbano, desde una perspectiva tanto espacial como histórica. Desde el análisis de los procesos de urbanización, mercantilización y privatización de la ciudad contemporánea se busca comprender un territorio que se presenta como barroco en muchos sentidos. Los desplazamientos humanos así como las lógicas y sentidos que los actores le dan a su propio espacio permiten adentrarse en el fenómeno urbano andino. Se trata de una aproximación a la espacialidad propia de los Andes equinocciales, desde el centro como conceptualización hasta los bordes y las fronteras como realidad espacial. La ciudad como producción mestiza se nos presenta a partir de su elemento articulador, la calle, en la que prácticas y quehaceres, discursos y narrativas nos permiten conocer lo que ya no está, lo queda y lo que estaría por venir.
