Hay libros que aparecen en momen- tos clave, ya porque marcan puntos de inflexión en el devenir de la colectividad, ya porque tornan a la memoria hechos que, por su trascendencia, no deben ser olvidados. En el Ecuador, podríamos citar, entre los primeros, a Los que se van, punto de partida de la gran literatura realista de los años treinta; Huasipungo, cima indiscutible del indigenismo; o, Entre la ira y la esperanza, de Agustín Cueva, obra epónima para entender la nueva crítica literaria en el país. De los segundos, Tzantzismo: tierno e insolente, de Susana Freire García, es un ejemplo paradigmático: por la época en que se publica, a casi medio siglo de los hechos que trata, y por su rigor, tanto en la reflexión, como en la investigación.
