El artículo determina el recorrido histórico del riego en el Ecuador, las modalidades de administración de la acequia Tabacundo y el inicio del Proyecto de Riego Cayambe Pedro-Moncayo, en el siglo XX. Se establecen las implicaciones de la problemática gestión y prestación del servicio de riego en este territorio, en el marco de los cambios de legislación e institucionalidad y de una economía nacional dependiente de los mercados internacionales.
The article determines the historical route of irrigation in Ecuador, the modalities of administration of the Tabacundo irrigation ditch and the beginning of the Cayambe Pedro-Moncayo Irrigation Project in the 20th century. The implications of the problematic management of the irrigation service in this territory are established, within the framework of changes in legislation and institutionality, and a national economy dependent on international markets.
