dc.descriptionLos altos niveles de inseguridad que afectan al Triángulo Norte de Centroamérica (El Salvador, Guatemala y Honduras) y la falta de capacidad de sus policías han sido la base para sustentar la colaboración policial-militar como estrategia. Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar los desafíos que dicha colaboración presenta a las instituciones del sector seguridad, analizando en primer lugar los vacíos de la normativa vigente y, en segundo lugar, las capacidades institucionales (en cuanto a presupuesto y personal) en cada país. Luego se analizan los resultados de dicha estrategia de acuerdo con los datos de delincuencia disponibles y, por último, se entrega una reflexión sobre los desafíos de esta estrategia de acuerdo a la información presentada, demostrando que el acomodo institucional no ha sido del todo desarrollado y que faltan aún materias por resolver para transparentar estos procesos.es_EC
dc.descriptionThe three-fold justification for collaboration between police and the armed forces in the Northern Triangle (El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras) has generally included the persistent violence, the high level of insecurity, and the inabilities of police to address these problems. This article compares and considers the institutional challenges of police-military collaboration for the security sector in each country. The analysis focuses first on the legal framework that conditions such a collaborative strategy, and second on the materiality of budgets and the institutional capacities of personnel. The results of this strategy are analyzed based on available data. The argument ends with a reflection on existing challenges, demonstrating that inter-institutional accommodation has not been fully developed in areas that require greater accountability and transparency.es_EC
